"With "Beauty Of Nature," I wanted to write something that breathes nature. That's why it's instrumental. The first part has a Celtic, Iona-esque quality—our flutist Judith is very gifted. Then it resembles Camel. Guitarist Rinie and I both love that, so we enjoyed adding that Andy Latimer vibe. The song meanders back and forth, as if you're walking around in it, marveling at what you see and hear—nature, take care of it! "Rubberband" is an ode to my daughter Nienke. If you have independent children, they always have a rubber band they can bring home when needed. It's a long song—originally two. It has solos, a delicate intermezzo, and a vocal section that stays with you—that's what I hear. I love extended intros."

"Your new album was recorded with almost the same musicians as your debut. It seems more like a band than a project. Yes, we have the exact same lineup except for the violin. But it's still a project; half of the band said from the start that they wouldn't perform live. We've received about twelve invitations from different countries, but for health reasons, that's not possible."

"Euer neues Album ist ja fast mit den gleichen Musikern aufgenommen worden wie das Debüt. Das sieht mehr nach einer Band aus als nach einem Projekt. Ja, wir haben ja auch bis auf die Besetzung der Geige das komplett gleiche Line-up. "The Foundation operates in a genre for which the Netherlands has become a veritable breeding ground: neo-prog. I'm thinking, among others, of Silhouette and Knight Area. In your opinion, how do you explain this special connection between neo and the Netherlands?

I don't entirely agree with this analysis. Certainly, there are neo-prog elements in our music, with three former members of Knight Area in our project, but also more symphonic influences from the early 70s and perhaps some AOR passages that complete our sound."

Certes, il y a des éléments néo-prog dans notre musique, avec trois anciens membres de Knight Area dans notre projet, mais aussi des influences plus symphoniques du début des années 70 et peut-être quelques passages AOR qui complètent notre son."

"Ever since the end of the last century Ron Lammers has wanted to use music to music to tell how the Christian faith offered him the way out of a deep valley. A first recording from that time has now been elaborated into the imposing title track "Mask" from his project The Foundation, complemented by a musical and textual interpretation of the period before and after his conversion."

"Because everything was played in 'individually remotely', mixing and mastering the digital deliveries were essential for the right listening experience, and judging by the final product, that was in excellent hands with (additional) keyboard player Jan Munnik (Autumn). "Among all the posts about new bands, one post in particular stood out. Ron Lammers' post about his new band The Foundation. Ron is an aficionado of the genre we write about. He was at the cradle of Radio Xymfonia, the oldest radio station in our country when it comes to progressive rock music. Partly in response to the debut album "Mask", we asked Ron and some of the band members some questions."
